This comm is inspired by projects like NaNoWriMo, only you have a year to get it done and there's no limit to what you can write. The Next Great American Novel©, fanfic, poetry, or even just journal entries about your daily life. Anything goes!

Why 360k and not 600k (12x the amount for NaNoWriMo)?
360k is the equivalent of writing about 100 words a day, which is very easy for anyone to write. Not only that, but it's a much more manageable goal. With 600k, you would have to write about 1640 words every day, which could seem overwhelming. If you want to take on the challenge of writing more, though, feel free.

What can I post here?
Obviously, you should post a statement of intent - meaning something that lets everyone know what your "official" start date will be. We'd also like to see updates on your progress once in a while. You can post every day, once a week, or even just once a month. Whatever suits your fancy! If you would like to post links to whatever it is you're writing, that's fine, but please don't post the stories/journal entries/etc. directly into the comm. Also, put warnings for rating and such on any links you may post.

What can I use to get a word count/word count meter?
There are lots of things you can get online that will count your words and give you a little meter, all of which you can find through your preferred search engine, but here are a couple of things to get you started.

Writertopia Word Count Script
-This is probably the easiest site to use for adding up your word count. All you do is copy/paste your words in and click "Count Words".

Writertopia Progress Meters
-Also on Writertopia, there are two little word count meters here that you can customize to show how much you've written of the 360k goal.

Zokutou Progress Meters and Word Count Script
-This one is a little fancier than the Writertopia Progress Meter, which is kind of nice if you want something in a color other than grey. Also, there is a way of setting up your meter to say "FINISHED!" when you reach the goal.

Do I have to stop once I've reached 360k, even if I reached it before my goal date?
Nope! If you reach the 360k goal early, or even if you reach it after your goal date, feel free to keep posting and let your word count get even higher. Though the comm's focus is on reaching 360k words in one year (365 days), there's nothing that says you have to stop once you get to that number.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to pm either of the mods and we'll do our best to help you out. Have fun and get writing!
